“Our first date was over two of our favorite things, espresso martinis and breakfast for dinner at a restaurant in Atlanta, and we pretty much fell in love that night. We started dating over four years ago, and we’ll be getting married just after our five-year anniversary next summer!”
She says the proposal took her totally by surprise, despite having talked about getting married.

“He proposed on Valentine’s Day at the lake in our neighborhood, it’s a spot we walk to all the time, and it’s really special to us, but Valentine’s Day felt way too obvious, so it completely went over my head,” she says.

Joiner continues, “Mason actually started planning the proposal back in November and had been keeping it a secret for months. His sister Taylor gave him the idea to pull it off on Valentine’s Day, which ended up being the perfect cover. I truly didn’t see it coming!”
She adds that her fiancé, whose sister is Tae Dye from the band Maddie & Tae, had a hard time keeping the plans from her.

“Mason said it was so hard keeping it a secret from me, but he knew he wanted to make it special and make sure I was surprised. He had the whole evening planned, including fake dinner reservations at one of our favorite restaurants to throw me off. After he proposed, he surprised me with a stay at Chateau Elan in North Georgia, where we celebrated just the two of us and spent the next day at the spa.
When we got home, our family, friends, and our cat Willow were waiting with a party to celebrate! Mason’s parents added to the surprise and even drove in from Oklahoma to make everything that much more special.”

As for wedding plans, she says they’re going back to the same spot where they took their engagement photos: Cape Cod.
“When we started planning the wedding, we knew we wanted a destination in a fun place since our friends and family were from all over the states,” Joiner explains.
“We also wanted something that felt coastal and romantic, something on the water, and somewhere all of our friends and family would be excited to visit. Cape Cod checked all the boxes. We took our engagement photos at Mayflower Beach and we’re getting married next summer at Wychmere Beach Club.”
