Starbucks has always been an innovator in its field, from constant menu updates to keeping up with the latest technological advancements.
And it’s doing that again with a new location, which will be a first-of-its-kind store.

A new 1,400-square-foot location in Brownsville, Tex. will be the coffee giant’s first 3D printed store in the country, reports USA Today.
According to the outlet, the location will offer drive-thru and mobile pick up service only.
The new store, which is expected to open May 2, will be among the first retail locations in the country constructed via 3D printing technology. An 8,000-square-foot addition was constructed via 3D printing for a Walmart in Tennessee last year.
The new Starbucks will be the fourth in the city, and fans were divided when the company announced the news on social media last month.

One fan asked “will it melt in the summer?” prompting others to explain that while 3D printing often uses plastic, the store is built from concrete.
Other fans were enthusiastic about the news, declaring, “Yeah I’m visiting just for this,” and writing, “As an architect, I approve this.” The brand responded to that comment, noting, “We’re always innovating and this store is a case study in construction methodology.”
