Former Rep. Abigail Spanberger’s (D-Va.) gubernatorial campaign rolled out an ad focused on lowering costs in Virginia on Wednesday, marking less than one month before early voting kicks off ahead of November’s elections.

In the 30-second spot titled “Tour,” Spanberger discusses how the issue of lowering costs in housing, healthcare and energy was top of mind in her conversations with voters across Virginia.

“We’ve got tough challenges that can’t be solved in 30-second ads, but I’ve rolled out plans and I’m ready to get to work to lower costs. And that’s what I’ll do as governor,” Spanberger says in the ad.

The Hill was the first outlet to view the ad, which will air in the Richmond and Norfolk media markets and statewide on digital platforms.

A Roanoke College poll released on Tuesday showed 54 percent of likely Virginia voters said inflation was the most important issue in the campaign.

The ad comes less than a month before early voting kicks off in Virginia on September 19.

Spanberger has consistently held a commanding lead over her opponent, Republican Lieutenant Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R), throughout the campaign. The latest polling average released earlier this month by The Hill’s partners at Decision Desk HQ shows Spanberger leading Earle-Sears 45.2 percent to 36 percent.

However, the same Roanoke College poll released on Tuesday showed a narrowing race between the two candidates, with Spanberger leading 46 to 39 percent among likely voters. Fourteen percent of voters said they were undecided, while one percent said they would vote for someone else. The last Roanoke College poll of the race was released in May and showed Spanberger leading 43 percent to 26 percent.
