The episode also marked the biggest linear premiere for “South Park” since 1999 and made it the top telecast in all of cable the Wednesday it premiered. The episode also marked the show’s biggest rating in the adults 18-49 demographic since 2022. With a 0.996 rating, it was up 15% compared to the Season 26 premiere, which drew a 0.866.
An encore airing of the episode, “Sermon on the ‘Mount,” will air tonight on Comedy Central, with a new episode set for Aug. 6.
In the season premiere, series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone took direct aim at President Donald Trump and his attacks on Comedy Central parent company Paramount Global. Trump is portrayed in the episode in the same way the show use to portray Saddam Hussein, including putting him in a sexual relationship with Satan. It then concludes with a parody PSA featuring a naked Trump stumbling through the desert.
Parker and Stone recently extended their deal with Paramount Global for an additional 50 episodes of “South Park.” The extension is reportedly valued at $300 million a year for the next five years. The deal also saw the entire “South Park” library move to Paramount+ for the first time, with new episodes to stream on the service after their linear debut on Comedy Central.
