Soundside Music Festival organizers have announced that this year’s upcoming event has been canceled, citing “circumstances beyond our control.”
The event was slated to take place in Bridgeport, CT at Seaside Park on September 27-28. The Killers, Weezer, Hozier and Vampire Weekend were set to headline the two-day festival, which also touted performances from Djo, Japanese Breakfast, the Backseat Lovers, Remi Wolf, Alex Warren, the Last Dinner Party and more.
Organizers announced the cancellation on their website, sharing a brief message about the change of plan. “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled,” reads the statement. “Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank’s processing time.”
Representatives for Soundside Music Festival did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for further clarification as to why the festival was canceled.
Soundside originally launched in 2022 as Sound on Sound before rebranding last year as Soundside Music Festival. The event was initially staged by Howard Saffan, developer of the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater, in partnership with Live Nation Connecticut and Founders Entertainment. In its first year, the festival featured Stevie Nicks, the Lumineers and Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds as headliners.
Last year, Foo Fighters were scheduled to headline the event alongside Noah Kahan, but dropped out just two weeks after frontman Dave Grohl revealed in an Instagram post that he had recently become the father of a child outside of his marriage. Foo Fighters were inevitably replaced by Jack White and Greta Van Fleet.
