Soulja Boy is facing some serious legal headaches as a result of an early morning traffic stop.
The “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” rapper was a passenger in a car that was pulled over at Melrose and Genesee in Los Angeles at 2:35 am on Sunday morning, Variety confirmed with the LAPD. Soulja Boy, legally known as DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm when a gun was spotted in the car.

Soulja Boy is best known for the chart-topping 2007 single “Crank That,” as well as hits like “Turn My Swag On” and “Kiss Me thru the Phone.”
Unfortunately, the rapper is known better for his legal woes this year than hits, given that he was ordered to pay $4 million after a sexual battery verdict in April.
A legal representative for Way did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
TMZ first reported the news.
