Sofía Vergara is looking for her perfect match, even if it takes some time.
During an appearance on the Today show on Wednesday, May 14, the Modern Family alum, 52, reflected on life as a single woman following her divorce from Joe Manganiello.
When host Jenna Bush Hager revealed that a mutual friend recently asked if she knew any men to set Vergara up with, the actress shared what she is looking for in her next relationship.
“I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me,” she began. “And somebody tall, handsome. I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it’s a nightmare. They end up resenting you.”
Looking ahead, Vergara said her priority is to find “somebody fun. I need fun in my life.”
“I’ve been single now for a year and a half, and I kind of panicked once I got divorced,” she admitted. “I was like, ‘I’m 52, what’s gonna happen? Where am I going to find [someone]?’ ”
Now, she doesn’t feel as much pressure to fill that space in her life until she finds the right person. “I’m not really in a hurry anymore,” she admitted.
In July 2023, Vergara and Manganiello, 48, announced that they were going their separate ways after seven years of marriage. They first met in 2014 when Vergara’s then-costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson introduced them during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
At the time, Vergara was engaged to Nick Loeb, but they announced their split just a few weeks after the events. When Manganiello heard the news, he asked Ferguson for Vergara’s phone number.
Although she wasn’t looking to date so soon after her breakup, the Spider-Man star eventually won her over, and they tied the knot a year later.
Their relationship ultimately ended because Manganiello wanted children and Vergara did not, she told Spanish newspaper El País in January 2024.
