Simone Biles Says Kids Are “Definitely” in Her and Jonathan Owens’s Future

Hello there! In case you aren’t aware, Olympic legend Simone Biles and her husband truly could not be any cuter. Meet Jonathan Owens, who has been with Simone for a few years and seems like the actual best. And because Simone and Jonathan just got married last year, naturally, that means it’s time for a casual deep dive on Jonathan and their sweet relationship (how they met, who contacted whomst first, all that fun stuff). They’re Officially Married!

Simone revealed that they tied the knot over the weekend of April 22, 2023, writing on Instagram “I do 🤍 officially owens 🤍.”

And They Had a Second Wedding in May 2023

Yep, on May 6, 2023, the couple got married again during a ceremony at the Umi Terrace of the Nobu in Los Cabos, Mexico. Oh and btw, there were 144 guests and Simone wore four different dresses for the special day, which is so incredibly iconic.

During an interview with Vogue, the gymnast revealed her “heart was beating out of my chest” while preparing to walk down the aisle. “I’ve never been so nervous before in my life.” But “seeing Jonathan at the altar was a dream. Our guests were cheering for everyone. I was shocked by the love in the air. The ceremony was so beautiful and dreamy.”

They Announced Their Engagement After Valentine’s Day 2022

“I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! Let’s get married FIANCÉ 💍🥺🤎 @jowens_3,” Simone wrote on Insta at the time. The CUTENESS, I cannot!

He’s an NFL Player

Jonathan played for Missouri Western State University, then signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 before moving on to the Houston Texans. (He had a huge career interception and fumble recovery when the Texans upset the Chargers back in December 2021, so yeah, he’s really good.) However, he is currently a safety for the Chicago Bears. The more you know!

Simone says she loves that they have athleticism in common, telling Today, “I just…I love him. We have a great time together. Our personalities match right up. We have the same sense of humor. And he’s just great. He’s an athlete too, so we really understand each other and I think that’s why our relationship has been seamless.”

Jonathan has also talked about how they support each other, telling Texas Monthly the following back in June 2021: “I try to be her motivating factor whenever I sense that she’s kind of maybe getting down on herself. If practice was a little rough or your body may not be feeling great right now. She’s doing the same with me. She’ll be telling me, ‘Don’t be a baby, you’re all right.’ We’re both super competitive. When I see her getting up and going to practice every morning, it motivates me even more. It’s a great feeling when the person you’re in a relationship with understands what you’re going through.”

They Got Together Right Before the Pandemic

Meaning, they spent a ton of time together super fast and just clicked.

“We ended up hanging out right before the pandemic,” Jonathan told Texas Monthly. “It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other—really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful. Her energy is something. She’s always happy, giggly, bubbly. If I’ve had a tough day at the office, I wouldn’t want to take that home to her. Her personality, man…”

“This was a match made in heaven,” he added. “There’s no better person for me. She loves me, she’s so affectionate. I just love that. And it’s just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything.”

Simone Slid Into Jonathan’s DMs

At least, that’s how he tells it! “He would say I slid into his DMs,” Simone dished to the Wall Street Journal during a July 2021 convo. “I saw him and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s pretty cute,’ so I said hi…and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit and then we went to hang out a week or two later.”

Apparently, they spent a few weeks flirting and FaceTiming and then met in person. And the rest is history!

He Had No Idea Who She Was

Truly unclear how that’s even possible, but Jonathan told Texas Monthly, “I didn’t know who she was. I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”

He’s Super Supportive

Not only did Jonathan pull up to the 2024 Paris Olympics to cheer Simone on with her parents, but he seemingly took notes during her routine, which, btw, continued her historic streak as the most decorated U.S. gymnast of all time. 🥹

He also pulled up in this ^^^ iconic ’90s-inspired graphic tee with Simone’s face all over it and posted a sweet pic with her after her win. “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful i was there to see it ❤️🤍💙,” he wrote on Instagram. Honestly…could not be more obsessed with these two:

FYI, Simone made history and became the first gymnast to win nine all-around titles on June 2, 2024, at the Xfinity U.S. Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, and her hubby immediately took to his Instagram Stories to praise her “amazing” accomplishment. “Went 5 for 5!!! Swept every event 😍,” he wrote alongside a video of Simone competing.

He also posted the sweetest tribute after his wife qualified for this year’s Paris Olympics.

Oh, and in January 2021, Jonathan similarly gushed about watching Simone compete at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships (where she casually took home her seventh national title), writing, “What an amazing experience 👏🏽 First time getting to watch you compete in person and you didn’t disappoint. It’s so cool that I get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that‼️ I’m so proud of you my lil champ. 🥰❤️ Trials up next and you already know I’m there!! Love you baby. ❤️❤️”

He Has the Cutest Dog

Jonathan has an English bulldog and he’s totally bonded with Simone’s pups. “I’ll show up at her house and her dogs will peek around her looking for my dog,” he’s previously said. “They’ve become best friends.”

According to Simone, Kids Are in Their Future

Yep, the Olympian sat down with the Today show’s Hoda Kotb on August 6, 2024 and revealed that the subject of kids has totally been brought up between her and Jonathan. 🥺❤️

“Me and Jonathan always talk about kids. He would have them, like, yesterday if he could have,” Simone began before adding, “Obviously, we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. But yes, that’s definitely in our future.”
