Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are almost Met Gala ready!
The 28-year-old Olympian had some sweet support from her husband, Owens, 29, before the couple took the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala, where they will both serve as members of the hosting committee.
In the early afternoon on Monday, May 5, just as honorary chair LeBron James announced he will miss the event due to an injury sustained during the NBA playoffs, Biles shared a selfie to her Instagram Stories as she prepped for the star-studded event.
“MET MONDAY,” Biles wrote over the photo, adding a handful of star emojis.

In the selfie, Biles, wearing a hotel robe, smiled at the camera as Owens, wearing a black tee and a chain necklace, kisses her on the cheek.
Both Owens and Biles were named to the Met Gala hosting committee, alongside Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese and Usher. James, meanwhile, was the honorary chair alongside co-chairs Colman Domingo, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour. The 2025 Met Gala will honor the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
James, 40, said he will “hate to miss an historical event” when announcing his absence from the event on Monday. “Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on,” he wrote on X on Monday, May 5.

James confirmed, however, that his wife Savannah James will be on the carpet “holding the castle down as she always has done!”

Owens and Biles, who made her Met Gala debut in 2021, enjoyed a weekend down south for the Kentucky Derby before making their way to New York for the Met Gala.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the Derby, Biles teased her Met Gala look. “I think they’re telling me I’m going to wear at least five to six inch heels, so that will be so interesting,” she hinted.
She also revealed that she and Owens are working with different designers for the event, but promises their looks will still compliment one another. “We’ll be cohesive with one another, so that’s really exciting to share another moment,” she said, sweetly adding that Owens is the star she is “most excited to see.”
