The consumer price index report for April showed promising news for shoppers, with prices for food at home falling by 0.4% since March. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that this is the largest decline in food-at-home prices since September 2020. But with many other costs continuing to rise, Americans are still keeping a close eye on their grocery budgets.

Katy Stevick, financial advisor and founder of Align Financial Planning, called the Kirkland Signature jasmine rice in a 25-pound bag “pantry gold at less than a dollar a pound,” citing it as one of her favorite Costco grocery deals.

Parker Lane, MS, RDN, founder of Fig Lane Nutrition, recommended Costco’s premade food options, especially when you find yourself shopping at Costco when you’re hungry and want a quick, one-pan, heat-and-eat meal when you get home. “I love Costco’s options for balanced prepared meal options that give you a bigger bang for your buck,” Lane said. “They’re also easily customizable if you need to boost the protein, veggies or fiber content.”
He recommended the Costco yakisoba stir fry as a complete meal for poultry lovers, adding a pro tip: “Get Costco’s frozen veggies stir-fry mix or fresh broccoli florets to boost the veggie content,” he said.
Grain and Celery Salad

The Kirkland Signature grain and celery salad with apple cider vinaigrette from Costco’s prepared foods section works as an easy summer side dish or a complete plant-based meal, Lane pointed out. You can also add rotisserie chicken to make this 2- to 3-pound container of salad stretch further.

As a nutritionist, Lane said he also likes Costco’s frozen mixed fruit. Calling Costco’s frozen fruit options a “favorite for smoothie bowls during the summer… and a great way to support your fiber intake,” Lane suggested choosing a selection with berries in the mix, like the three berry blend for $3 or so per pound.
Rotisserie Chicken

It almost feels like a cliché to include Costco’s rotisserie chicken on a best-values list, but superfans can’t ignore the convenience and low price of this Costco item. “The chicken is a no-brainer because it’s super-fast, inexpensive and stretches into multiple meals,” Stevick said.
