Sheryl Crow is opening up about a terrifying incident in which an armed man entered her Tennessee property.
The legendary singer, 63, sat down for Variety’s “Power of Women: Nashville” cover story and recalled a scary incident that occurred after she spoke out about giving up her Tesla.
“So yeah, there was a moment where I actually really felt very afraid: A man got on my property, in my barn, who was armed,” Crow told Variety. “It doesn’t feel safe when you’re dealing with people who are so committed.”

The backlash was in response to Crow posting a clip to Instagram of herself waving goodbye to her Tesla, the electric vehicle company whose CEO is Elon Musk. In the caption, Crow wrote, “There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.” She also noted that she donated the profits of the car’s sale to National Public Radio, “which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”
This wasn’t the first time Crow has spoken out about issues. However, she made it clear that this incident didn’t feel the same as it had in the past.
“This feels different, because when I came out against Walmart carrying guns [in her 1996 song “Love Is a Good Thing”], not everybody was armed — and certainly I didn’t live in Tennessee, where everybody is armed,” she explained.

When asked if she would post the same thing again, Crow told Variety that she couldn’t “help it.”
“I feel like I’m fighting for my kids. Also, that’s the way I was raised,” she emphasized. “There have been times when it hasn’t really been fun, but I follow my Atticus Finch dad; I’m very similar to him if I see something that seems unfair, you know?”
