Shane Gillis will host the 2025 ESPYs, ESPN’s annual awards show.

The ESPYs — short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards — will take place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on July 16, airing on ABC and ESPN+ at 8 p.m. The show, which will “recognize major sports achievements, remember unforgettable moments and honor the leading performers and performances” of the year, is co-produced by ESPN and Full Day Productions, with Full Day’s Connor Schell and Dave Chamberlin serving as executive producers.

The news comes on the heels of Season 2 of “Tires,” the Netflix comedy series created by and starring Gillis. Gillis is also currently on a 40-city international stand-up comedy tour, and is the co-host of the comedy podcast “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast” alongside Matt McCuster.

In addition to his comedy career, Gillis is also a former athlete, having been recruited to play football as an offensive tackle for the Army Black Knights at the United States Military Academy before eventually playing for a year at Elon University.

“I’m excited to be at The ESPYS this year,” said Gillis. “I like sports so this should be a good time.”

“Shane is not only one of the top comedians today, but also a huge sports fan, which made him an easy choice to host the ESPYs,” said Craig Lazarus, ESPN vice president and executive producer of the ESPYs. “We are thrilled to work with him to create an entertaining show celebrating this year’s best moments in sports and are excited to see what he’ll do on stage.”
