Shake Shack is expanding to three new cities this year, as well as casinos across the United States, the burger joint announced this week.
Shake Shack Chief Development Officer Andrew McCaughan confirmed the openings in New York, Florida, and Oklahoma on July 2.
“This year, we’re excited to bring Shake Shack to new cities like Buffalo, Naples and Oklahoma City, expand our footprint across many of our key growth markets, open more drive-thrus, and launch our very first company-operated Shack with a cocktail bar at the Battery in Atlanta,” McCaughan wrote.
According to McCaughan, Shake Shack also plans to open a location in South Carolina for the first time. No word yet on what city this will be in.

Where has Shake Shack opened new restaurants so far?
As of July, Shake Shack has opened 34 new locations this year, McCaughan said, adding that 18 of them are company-operated.
New locations include drive-thrus, suburban sites, airport locations, and global restaurants, he said.
So far, Shake Shack has opened restaurants in:

Globally, Shake Shack has opened locations in Busan in South Korea, Metepec in Mexico, and Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
What are Shake Shack’s plans for future locations?
Shake Shack’s goal is to have 1,500 company-operated locations across the U.S., McCaughan said.
“Much of our expansion this year is focused on underpenetrated suburban markets, places where we see real opportunity to build community and meet guests in the rhythms of their everyday lives,” he said. “Folks in these communities deserve delicious, flavorful, and fun food options.”
The openings are part of the company’s plan to open between 80 and 85 new restaurants globally this year, he said.
Locations are also planned for Tucson, Arizona, New York State’s capital region, as well as Panama in 2026.
When asked about 2026 and beyond, McCaughan said Shake Shack has a new licensing partnership with PENN Entertainment, which runs casinos, racetracks, hotels, and resorts in North America.
Shake Shack will be opening Shake Shacks at 10 of the company’s casino properties with the first slated to open in 2026.
Locations are planned for Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio and River City Casino Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, McCaughan said.
