Luke Grimes is reprising his role as Kayce Dutton in an all-new Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals, and he’s going to be joined by a lot of familiar faces

There are quite a few familiar faces returning to the Dutton ranch.
News broke in May that Luke Grimes will return as Kayce Dutton in an all-new Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals, which will see the youngest of the Dutton clan “join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana,” per the official logline.
Grimes, 41, will not be alone as he returns to Montana, though.
Three Yellowstone stars are confirmed to reprise their beloved roles alongside Kayce in the new series.
Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty and Brecken Merrill are all returning for Y: Marshals, TV Line reported.
Birmingham will be back as Thomas Rainwater, Brings Plenty will return as Mo and Merrill will again play Kayce’s son, Tate, whom he shares with his wife, Monica.

It remains unconfirmed still if Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica in Yellowstone, will return for the spinoff.
Y: Marshals also added four other stars to its cast as filming continues.
Joining Kayce’s unit of U.S. Marshals will be Arielle Kebbel, who will play Belle, Ash Santos, who will play Andrea and Tatanka Means, who will play Miles, per TV Line.
Brett Cullen has also joined the cast and will play a leadership role in the Montana U.S. Marshals, Harry Gifford.
Santos reacted to the casting news in an Instagram post, writing, “Badge on. Boots laced. Excited doesn’t even cover it.”
“Beyond grateful to be joining the Yellowstone universe. Can’t wait for you all to meet Andrea 🩵,” she added.
Grimes has teased that the spinoff’s storyline is “very, very good” and “really roped” him in despite his doubts.
The actor told PEOPLE that his first reaction to the idea of a spinoff about Kayce, given how satisfying of an ending he got in Yellowstone, was, “Where do you go from there?”
“We definitely wanted to make sure to give it a real story and make it interesting and make it believable,” Grimes said.

“If it was just like, ‘well, he’s happy’ — we’re just going to watch him be happy? That’s not very cool. But I’ll say this, the idea that was pitched to me is very, very good and very interesting.”
“It really roped me in, and I think it will rope the audience in as well,” he added.
He teased at the time that there would be “some familiar faces” joining him, many of whom have now been revealed, but “a lot of new faces too, so we’ll see how that all feels.”
