Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are possibly opting out of one of the biggest wedding traditions.
In an episode released on the Wednesday, April 30, the Only Murders in the Building star, 32, revealed on the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast that she and her fiancé were considering not having a bride and groom dance at their reception.
“I don’t think we’re looking at having one of those ‘cause they’re a little — I feel embarrassed,” Gomez responded before Blanco, 37, chimed in, adding, “She’s shy.”
However, the “Calm Down” singer noted that she would be including a “special dance” with her grandfather on her mother’s side, and shared the special significance of having him participate in wedding festivities.

“He never got a chance to walk my mom down the aisle. Because, good for my mom, she decided to go to [Las] Vegas and be like, ‘Whoo,’ and she’s still been with [my father] ever since they were like 26,” Gomez shared.
“So it’s very cute that they did that, but I wanted to give [my grandfather] the opportunity to have that,” she added.
Gomez will also be participating in another wedding tradition — courtesy of her fiancé’s Jewish heritage: the Hora, or the “chair dance.”
“I’m very nervous about that,” she admitted, before adding, “I’ve got to be honest, it looks so cute and adorable but I was like, ‘What? I have to depend on just something like [a chair]?’ ”

“It’s like the biggest trust fall ever,” Jessie Ware joked while recalling how her own wedding incorporated the tradition. She noted not many of her guests were familiar with it, so her bridesmaids had to carry her.
“I just gotta have the padding around the pad,” Gomez suggested before Ware responded, “No, you’ll be fine.”
Gomez and Blanco confirmed their relationship in December 2023 and announced their engagement a year later in December 2024. “Forever begins now,” Gomez wrote in her engagement announcement, alongside shots of her new diamond ring.
The pair first met in 2013 through Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, before collaborating on music. Blanco went on to co-produce the songs “Kill Em With Kindness” and “Same Old Love” on Gomez’s 2015 album, Revival.
