Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans, the stars of the upcoming movie Honey Don’t!, have plenty of witty banter and action in the trailer released Wednesday.
When she, a private investigator, challenges his preacher in his office, they exchange the kind of snappy dialogue that you’d expect from a movie directed, co-written, and co-produced by Ethan Coen.
“I see a need, and I fulfill it,” he says, to which she counters, “You see a need, and you exploit it.”
He later deems her “fascinating.”
She responds with a straight face, “And you haven’t even see the riddle tattoo on my ass.”

In addition to Evans and Qualley, the movie costars Aubrey Plaza, as an officer who appears to eventually team up with Qualley, as well as Charlie Day and Billy Eichner.
Focus Features, which will release the movie later this summer, describes it as “a dark comedy about Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator, who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.”
Honey Don’t!, which will have its world premiere at this month’s 2025 Cannes Film Festival, has the same kind of cool, retro vibe and desert setting for which Coen is known.
Characters from movies such as No Country for Old Men and Fargo would almost go unnoticed. But this time, Qualley is the one searching for clues, and we see her — or perhaps someone else — discover what looks like a big one in the trailer, when the discoverer picks up a ring with the same logo as the one used by Evans’ church.

Back in the office of Evans’ character, where Qualley’s Honey wants to ask him more questions, he quickly changes the subject.
“Do you drink?” he asks.
“Heavily,” she volleys, as if she’s in a black-and-white crime movie. “It’s a point of pride.”
Honey Don’t! arrives in theaters Aug. 22. Watch the full trailer above.
