The son of a Hollywood icon responds to Taylor Swift naming an upcoming track after his legendary mother.
Between her recent Instagram posts giving details about her upcoming album and her record-breaking appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce’sNew Heights podcast, Taylor Swift has garnered more than her normal amount of attention recently. One person in particular has weighed in, and it isn’t someone in Swift’s normal demographic.
Christopher Wilding, 70, son of late screen legend Elizabeth Taylor, spoke to TMZ about his reaction to Swift naming the second track on her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, after his famous mother. He told them that while he has not yet heard the track, he’s “excited and intrigued to listen to it.”
He also told the outlet that he thinks Swift shares many of his mother’s most positive traits and is confident that they would have gotten along famously if they had ever had the opportunity to meet.
Wilding said that he sees Swift as a “rare, positive role model for young girls” and added that he’s always “admired her philanthropy and courage to stand up for what she believes.”

The upcoming track isn’t the first time Swift has referenced the two-time Oscar-winning actress. A line from her 2017 song Ready for It? from her Reputation album refers to the actress’s legendary romance with actor Richard Burton. “He can be my jailer/Burton to this Taylor.”
Elizabeth Taylor died on March 23, 2011. Christopher Wilding is her second son with her second husband, Michael Wilding. Christopher followed in his famous parents’ footsteps and worked in the entertainment industry as a sound editor on many films, including Tombstone, which starred Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, and Sam Elliott.
The Life of a Showgirl is available for preorder and will be released on October 3, 2025.
