Scarlett Johansson promises that Jurassic World: Rebirth is the most terrifying of the franchise — but she thinks 10-year-old daughter Rose is old enough to watch it.
“I’ve been talking to some other Jurassic fans and they say this is the scariest one, but I would let my daughter see it,” Johansson, 40, told E! News on Monday, June 23, at the film’s NYC premiere.
She added, “It’s still appropriate for the family. You just gotta watch it through the crack in your fingers.”
Johansson shares her daughter with ex Romain Dauriac, to whom she was married from 2014 to 2017. The actress wed Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost in October 2020, and in August 2021, they welcomed son Cosmo.

“When I saw the first Jurassic Park movie, I was 10 years old in the theater and part of the impression it left on me was the jump scares, the laughs, but the terrors for sure,” Johansson said at Monday’s Jurassic World: Rebirth premiere in New York City. “That’s part of what’s so great about Jurassic. It’s thrilling in all ways: visually and also emotionally.”
In the film, she plays covert operative Zora Bennett, who embarks on a dangerous, top-secret mission alongside fellow adventurers portrayed by Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey (whom she kissed on the red carpet Monday).
Last week, Johannson attended the film’s London premiere and made a rare comment about Cosmo, now 3 years old. When asked what her favorite Chappell Roan song is, she replied, “I mean, my son’s favorite Chappell song is H-O-T T-O G-O, ‘HOT TO GO!,’ I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but because he sings it, it has become my favorite.”
Though she lives a highly public life, Johansson prefers to keep her kids out of the limelight.

“My family is very precious to me, as is their privacy,” Johansson said in a March interview with InStyle. “The anonymity of my children is very precious to me. I was talking to my daughter the other day, because she said, ‘Oh, I would love to make videos for The Outset.’”
“She was like, ‘Why can’t I?’ And I said, ‘Well, other than the fact that you’re 10…’” she continued.
Recently, Johansson said that she would prevent Rose from joining social media and getting a phone.
“I have a little guy who’s 3, so he’s not on a phone. He’s into Legos,” she revealed last November. “My daughter’s 10, and so there’s a lot of that pressure coming around now, especially if she’s hanging out with older girls.”

She said that it was “hard” for her to agree with the idea of allowing her daughter to have a phone.
“I don’t know, I think social media is hard for young people,” she said. “It’s hard for me to process. I feel like technology is moving so much faster than our human egos can process.”
