Sarah Jessica Parker is a regular at the Met Gala, but sadly she won’t be on tonight’s red carpet for “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
“I have to work,” SJP told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the annual event. “But there’s going to be so much to see, and I look forward to seeing what everybody does and how they interpret the theme and the homework they did for the assignment. A very joyful assignment.”
She added re: her love for the Met Gala, “I care a lot about it and I want to try to honor the work of the curators and everybody who sort of inspired this moment for those of us who get to attend.”
SJP has given a ton of quotes on her style over the years, but this one is a personal fave (just in case you’re wanting an idea of what goes into her approach to dressing for these events!):
“Style is what the individual brings. More often than not, we are drawn to people because they have personal style. Fashion is what is offered to the consumer. Style is what you make of it,” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK, adding “I make choices that make me feel comfortable and try not to worry too much about what other people think. I care less about other people’s opinions. I wear clothes that make me feel like myself.”
