Santander Bank plans to close nearly 20 locations this summer after evaluating its existing branches.
The bank confirmed to USA TODAY that it would be closing 18 branches across the Northeast, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania by the end of July through August.
A spokesperson for Santander Bank said the closures come as the bank continues to adapt to customers’ “evolving needs.”
“Santander Bank continues to refine its branch footprint and retail presence, including introducing new formats and investing in digital capabilities to better accommodate our customers and meet their evolving needs,” the spokesperson said.
According to Santander Trade, a platform that “provides information on international markets for import and export companies,” the bank has over 700 branch locations, with the most (229) being in Massachusetts.
