Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston didn’t let anything stand in the way of their friendship.
In a cover story about Aniston for the September issue of Vanity Fair, Bullock opened up about how they bonded 15 years ago despite being told they “weren’t supposed to.”
“We were from that time in the business where no one wanted the ladies to be friends — it was about pitting everyone against each other,” said Bullock, 61. “We were told we weren’t supposed to do that — meaning like and respect and honor each other.”
But they connected anyway, at a mutual friend’s wedding, where they immediately hit it off. “We were just like, ‘Oh my God, we need to meet and cut loose,’ ” the Practical Magic actress recalled of herself and Aniston, 56. “And we did.”
As the Morning Show star joked about Bullock’s hangover the next day, “I don’t know what I was sending her, but it was definitely stronger than what she was sending me.”

Bullock further sang her friend’s praises in her comments to Vanity Fair, revealing of Aniston, “I think her superpower is that she could very easily be hard, but she’s incredibly open.”
“People want to know about her and understand where she is in life and want her to be happy,” the Academy Award winner added.
Bullock also stressed how inclusive Aniston is, including during numerology readings they have done together in which “you write down your birth date and, whether you believe in it or not, we’re all scribbling down our thoughts and in it together.”
“Nothing is for her alone ever,” Bullock said. “Everything she does is for everyone else included.”

Aside from a bevy of shared interests, Aniston and Bullock have something else in common: They both once dated Tate Donovan. Another star the Friends alum is pals with who once dated someone she was later involved with? Gwyneth Paltrow, who was engaged to Brad Pitt before Aniston married him in 2000. (Pitt, 61, and Paltrow, 52, split in 1997, while the F1 actor and Aniston divorced in 2005.)
When asked if they ever talk about Pitt, Aniston told Vanity Fair, “Oh, of course.” (She delivered the reply, the magazine said, while “waving her hand and sounding everything like Rachel Green.”)
“How can we not? We’re girls,” added Aniston, though, admittedly, she said, wellness topics dominate the stars’ conversation more than anything else.

She and Paltrow, the actress told the magazine, are “always swapping advice — ‘What are you doing for this? What are you doing for that? Do you have a new doctor for that?’ ”
Of the Goop founder, Aniston also noted, “Ironically, I went to her and Brad’s engagement party.”
