You may want to double-check your snack stash, as a new recall might involve what’s in your pantry.
If you’ve picked up Member’s Mark Freeze-Dried Fruit Variety Packs from Sam’s Club recently, it’s time to hit pause before opening another pouch. Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC has issued a voluntary recall of the 15-count variety box due to a potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a July 31 alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The possible contamination was discovered through the company’s internal testing, and while no illnesses have been reported yet, the risks are serious. Listeria is a serious foodborne bacteria that can cause intense symptoms like fever, nausea, fatigue, and muscle aches. In those particularly vulnerable (anyone with a weakened immune system, the elderly, etc.), it can lead to far more severe complications. That includes confusion, loss of balance, seizures, or even miscarriage in pregnant people.
The recalled fruit was distributed between July 1 and July 25 to Sam’s Club stores across 42 states. Thoe states are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.
It was sold in 15-count foil pouch variety packs, boxed in cardboard containers labeled with UPC 1 93968 50900 2 and use-by dates from June 24, 2027, through July 25, 2027. If you’re looking for the lot number and expiration date, you can find them printed on the bottom of the box.
If you have one at home, the FDA says don’t eat it. Toss the box and bring it to any Sam’s Club location for a full refund—no receipt required. Questions? You can call Doehler’s customer service line at (770) 387-0451, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
The product was pulled after routine quality checks, and while it’s a relief that the issue was caught early, it’s a good reminder to stay up to date on food safety alerts. Better to play it safe and sub in a fresh snack while this one gets sorted out.
