Model Jasmine Sanders wrote, ”Wow just wow!! 😍😍😍”
One fan said, “I wanna look like her at that age 👏🔥,” while another stated, “This woman is perfection. 🔥🔥”
In the issue, Hayek shared her surprise at being featured, recalling her childhood excitement to see the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue each year. “If somebody had told me I was gonna be in it at 58, I would have sent them to the madhouse. But the world has changed, and that’s exciting.”
The star, who has long been admired for her empowering approach to aging, expressed how proud she is to be part of a changing narrative in the industry. “It’s really remarkable that a magazine like Sports Illustrated says it’s OK, maybe even cool, to be past 50 and still feel not just sexy, but free and not be self-conscious of your body like you have to hide,” she explained.
SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day complimented Hayek, calling her a “force of nature,” in the issue. “As an actor, producer, philanthropist and champion for women, Salma is a beacon for Latinx communities, a tireless advocate and a person whose passion for art, life and humanity has few rivals. Her why is rooted in her ability to inspire generations to come, by showing us all that living on your own terms is the ultimate power,” Day stated.
Hayek joins a group of powerful women in this year’s issue, including Dunne, Jordan Chiles, and Lauren Chan.
