Rosalía is a muse at the 2025 Met Gala!
The 32-year-old musician stepped out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5 wearing a custom white sculpted gown by Olivier Rousteing inspired by the night’s dress code: “Tailored for You.”
The garment was structured and shapely at the top, similar to the dress forms that inspired it, before transforming into a more flowing silhouette toward the bottom with a mermaid hem.
“I think I wanted to start from the mannequin, which is the base of every suit…,” Rousteing told Vogue of the look.
“Obviously Rosalía is iconic. She’s someone I love. She’s a muse. She’s inspiration. So I wanted to go from the beginning of the inspiration, which is the mannequin,” he added.
She opted to go jewelry-free, only sporting a white manicure as she posed for cameras on the Met Gala steps. Her hair was also in a sleek style, worn down and behind her shoulders in soft, sculptural waves.

The gala, held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May each year, ties in with the institution’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said that the show, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, pays homage to “the Black dandy.” And according to the Met’s instagram, it “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism.
This year’s co-chairs of the Met Gala are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, as well as LeBron James, who is serving as honorary chair. There is also a host committee that includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher and Angel Reese.

Rosalia at 2024 Met Gala
The latest Met milestone for Rosalía marked her fourth appearance at the event — as she previously attended in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
For her debut, the star opted for a red, off-the-shoulder gown by Rick Owens, which featured a plunging neckline and tons of fringe. The following year, she rocked an embellished Givenchy dress featuring a corset and ruffles, which she admitted was “very heavy” with “a lot of fabric” while speaking with E! at the time.
“But the mix of fabrics I think is what makes it special,” she added.
Returning to the Met Gala two years later in 2024, Rosalía wore a black strapless gown by Dior, which she paired with a chic veil. The look took over 1,800 hours to assemble. It was “embodying lady Dior, embodying Maria Grazia’s eyes,” she told Vogue at the event, which featured the theme, “The Garden of Time.”
“I’m wearing all black because when I heard about the theme I heard it was about Sleeping Beauty. I was like, ‘What is this for me?'” she added. “I thought about dreams. When you fall asleep, you close your eyes, you see black, you see darkness. That’s the prelude for the dreams. Today, I’m celebrating Dior and I’m a black tulip.”

Fans of the singer, whose full name is Rosalía Vila Tobella, shouldn’t be waiting much longer for new music. While she last released an album in 2022, MOTOMAMI, she’s since shared singles including “Omega” with Ralphie Choo. Speaking with Highsnobiety for a cover story back in September, she revealed she has new music on the horizon.
“It’s been a process,” Rosalía said. “I’ve changed a lot, but at the same time, I’m still wrapping my head around the same things. It’s like I still have the same questions and the same desire to answer them.”
She added: “I still have the same love for the past and the same curiosity for the future.”
Elsewhere during the discussion, she revealed the clothing that inspired MOTOMAMI and how it paid homage to her parents.
“I think what attracted me the most were the motorcycle helmets that I incorporated into the cover, the videos, and the shows,” she said at the time. “I wanted to use everything that was motorcycle equipment and accessories to create the MOTOMAMI looks, and it’s something quite personal to me because both my father and my mother are bikers, and it’s something [I grew up with] and that I have been around ever since I was very young.”
