Rodney Atkins is dedicated to his kids: Elijah, Ryder and Scout.
The “Honesty” singer and his ex-wife Tammy Jo Atkins welcomed their son Elijah in 2001. Years later, Rodney met fellow vocalist Rose Falcon, and they married in 2013. The couple welcomed their children, Ryder and Scout, in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Throughout his career, the country star has shared glimpses of his family, starting with Elijah, who was featured in a few of Rodney’s projects. Today, the two enjoy performing Rodney’s 2006 song “Watching You,” which Elijah inspired and starred in the music video.
When Rodney and Rose were ready to start a family, they took certain measures to have Ryder and Scout. In an August 2019 interview with PEOPLE, Rose shared that their sons are “miracles in different ways,” following “years of infertility and [in vitro fertilization] treatments.”
As for how Rodney is as a father of three, she added, “He is such a proud daddy.”
“The journey to building our family has been anything but predictable or easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing,” Rose said.
Here’s everything to know about Rodney Atkins’ kids: Elijah, Ryder and Scout.

Elijah Atkins was born on Sept. 28, 2001.
Rodney shares his firstborn son with his ex-wife Tammy Jo Atkins. The pair split in 2011 when Elijah was 10 years old.
Fast forward to November 2013, when Rodney wed Rose during a beach ceremony, they were surrounded by 20 of their closest friends and family members, including Elijah, who served as the best man.
Rodney and Elijah are a popular father-son duo among country music fans. Elijah plays a younger version of his dad in Rodney’s 2019 song “Thank God for You” music video. He also inspired the lyrics behind Rodney’s 2006 hit “Watching You” and made a cameo in the music video.

In June 2024, the pair recreated the video’s memorable car scene, in which Rodney and a 5-year-old Elijah go for a joyride down a dirt road.
“Y’all wanted to know what happened to the kid from the ‘Watching You’ video…This guy…Wait for it,” Rodney teased in a TikTok caption, before panning the camera to show a grown-up Elijah, then 22.
Most recently, they shared the stage to perform the song together and are working on a studio version of their duet.
While the “If You’re Going Through Hell” vocalist raised Elijah away from the spotlight, he enjoys mentioning him on social media today.
A December 2023 Facebook post of his reads, “My boys Eli, Scout, and Ryder have always inspired my music! My family is everything to me, and there’s nothing better than being a dad.”

Rodney and Rose welcomed their son Ryder Falcon Atkins on Dec. 14, 2017, in their hometown of Nashville.
The couple announced the pregnancy in July 2017, and one month later, Rose revealed on Instagram that they were excited to welcome their “#rainbowbaby” after experiencing a miscarriage.
When it came to baby names, the pair knew they wanted to go with a family moniker.
“Falcon is Rose’s maiden name, and I really wanted to honor her dad and her 96-year-old grandpa,” Rodney told PEOPLE at the time. “I always loved the name Ry, and Rose came up with Ryder — Ryder Falcon!”

Fatherhood has impacted not only Rodney’s personal life but also his country music career. In a touching TikTok video, Rodney shared how his sons influence the types of songs he sings and why “being a father is everything to me.”
“Becoming a dad kinda changed my whole perspective of the artist I wanted to be,” he said. “I kinda realized that my time is my family’s time, and the last thing I wanna do is waste their time.
Rodney continued, “I don’t want to come out and be gone on the road away from them just singing bubblegum songs. I wanna sing life songs that can touch folks’ lives.”
As Ryder has grown up, his mom Rose has shared glimpses of his childhood, including going on family vacations and celebrating the holidays. Having two singers as parents, he’s also tried his hand at creating music, like the tune he crafted for Rose’s birthday.

Rodney and Rose’s son Scout Falcon Atkins was born on Aug. 26, 2019.
“It’s amazing how Aug. 26 was just another day on the calendar. Now it’s a day we thank God for and will celebrate every year,” the couple told PEOPLE, following Scout’s arrival.
Scout made quite the entrance — almost a week past his original due date. According to Rodney, “nothing worked” to kickstart Rose’s labor until they “tried the old wives’ tale, castor oil.”
The couple had an at-home birth with the help of a midwife and doula. During their son’s delivery, Rodney said he felt the presence of “angels.”
“Witnessing Rose’s face, the whole thing completely natural, is the most superhuman thing I’ve ever experienced,” he explained. “Hearing her say, ‘I can’t do this’ and then watching her do it over and over was inspiring, scary, beautiful, heartbreaking and soul-lifting at the same time.”
Rose called Rodney “the most incredible birth partner” and “my rock.”
They revealed the pregnancy to fans with a touching lyric video for “My Life,” off Rodney’s 2019 album, Caught Up in the Country. The clip ends with a photo of Elijah and Ryder holding an ultrasound image. In March 2019, the pair confirmed they were expecting a boy.
Being a father of three is “the most challenging and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” Rodney said in a Father’s Day post shared on his Facebook page.
“There’s nothing I love more on this Earth than being a dad. It’s as good as it gets. Everything I do, everything I think, everything I say is about being a dad,” he shared. “It’s awesome.”
Like his brother Ryder, Scout is often spotted on his parents’ social media accounts. By the looks of it, he’s had an interest in cooking since he was a toddler.
