One thing Rihanna will never do, is fail to deliver.
The superstar and non-maternity maternity clothes guru has been on a winning fashion streak during her third pregnancy. And her latest look is both dizzying and delicious.
Earlier this week, Rihanna emerged in Los Angeles draped in an neon pink-and-yellow maxi dress from Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 2001 collection. The design had a voluminous, cloud-like neckline that resembled sweet cotton candy, and long pleats that moved with the singer’s body and perfectly cradled her baby bump.
Miyake’s runway show, in which the creation made its debut, was staged to the vibrating sounds of Japanese electronic duo Silent Poets, and the designs featured exaggerated shapes mixed with futuristic headpieces and algae-like scarves; plus metallics juxtaposed with earthy prints, like the wardrobe of a futuristic tribe.
This maxi dress’ candied, alien-esque fusion of color was mimicked by Rihanna’s shoes—a pair of metallic silver Puma x Ottolinger Mostro sneakers with cleat-like rubber soles in electric green. With a Speedcat-like silhouette, the rare sneakers retail for $275—if you can get your hands on them. (Some sizes are available for $247 on Kicks Crew.)
As we well know, more is very often more with Rihanna, and this time around, she completed her otherworldly look with large, dangly, silver earrings, stacks of gold bracelets, and several rings, including one with a blossoming pink rose. Her hair was down in a braided ’do.
