Fox has canceled the drama series “Rescue Hi-Surf,” Variety has confirmed.

The series aired for just one season at the broadcast network, which debuted in September. The season finale which aired in March will now serve as the series finale. The show was originally developed at Max (then HBO Max) before it was picked up to series by Fox in 2023.

News of the cancellation comes one week ahead of Fox’s presentation to advertisers at their annual upfront presentation in New York.

The official logline for “Rescue Hi-Surf” stated that it “follows the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu—the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Each episode will feature these dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking first-responders saving lives in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle.”

The cast of the series included Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono, and Zoe Cipres. Matt Kester created the series and served as executive producer. John Wells and Daniel Nathanson were also executive producers and co-showrunners. Erin Jontow of John Wells Productions was an executive producer as well. The series was co-produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Elsewhere on Fox’s drama slate, the medical series “Doc” earned an early Season 2 renewal back in February. Fellow dramas “The Cleaning Lady,” “Accused,” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” are still awaiting word on renewals. Previously, Fox gave out massive four-season renewals for “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers” and “Family Guy,” while also bringing “American Dad” back to the network.

Deadline first reported the cancellation news.
