Remi Bader Slammed For Weight-Loss Surgery Reveal After ‘Lying’

Remi Bader’s recent revelation about undergoing weight-loss surgery in 2023 has sparked a firestorm on social media, with fans expressing mixed reactions to the influencer’s decision to keep the procedure private until now.

In a new episode of the “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast, Remi Bade shared that she had a single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy, an intensive surgery that involved removing “80 percent of [her] stomach.”

The procedure resulted in a weight loss of “more than 140 pounds in less than a year,” the 30-year-old content creator also revealed in an interview with Self magazine.

But while some praised Bader for opening up, others criticized the timing of her announcement and accused her of misleading her followers for months.

“She blocked SO many people who asked this in her comments for months,” one person commented on a Page Six TikTok clip.

Another wrote, “The part that made people mad is she tried to make it look like she worked out and ate right and then blocked anyone who called her out about it.”

Several users labeled the influencer’s approach as “lying” and “bizarre,” with one person going as far as to say she had been “gaslighting all her fans.”

However, others came to Bader’s defense, reminding critics that decisions surrounding health and body image are deeply personal.

“It’s a personal choice to share intimate details,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “She didn’t even have to tell anyone. She owes [her] followers nothing.”

A third echoed, “Weight care is HEALTH CARE and she deserves privacy until she is ready to share.”

In her conversation with Self, Bader opened up about the physical and emotional toll of her recovery.

She described weeks of vomiting following the surgery and admitted she fell into a “deep depression.” The model also expressed surprise at the speed of her transformation. “I never thought it would be this quick,” she said. “I never wanted to be this size.”

Before surgery, Bader explored other weight-loss options, including Ozempic.

She previously shared on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in January 2023 that she had taken the drug but ultimately stopped because her “bingeing got so much worse” afterward.

The TikTok personality has long dealt with public scrutiny over her body.

In September 2023, she tearfully told followers in a video that she would no longer speak publicly about her weight due to the volume of “ridiculous” and hurtful comments she received.

“I try to not look at the really mean things online the best that I can because it really saves my mental health,” she began in the lengthy clip. “[But] there’s been a ridiculous amount of body shaming … saying things like how much bigger I’ve gotten or how much weight I’ve gained.”

“I felt like it could be helpful for people going through similar struggles, but I decided tonight that I’m no longer gonna do that,” she explained. “My health journey will now be my business. Shaming someone and the way they look every single day is so disgusting.”

Bader added that the people making those hurtful comments aren’t the kind of people she’d want in her corner anyway.

“You can pretend you want good for me, but it’s actually people that want the worst for me and it’s just fun for them to keep making fun of me and do it publicly,” she shared while emphasizing her commitment to prioritizing the “best” decisions for her mental and physical health.

“It’s really hard to see this every day,” she said, breaking down in tears as she spoke.

Bader’s disclosure has reignited debate over transparency, privacy, and the pressures of being a public figure in the digital age. While some feel misled, others are urging empathy, emphasizing that healing and health, both physical and emotional, are rarely linear or simple.
