Growing up in the spotlight can be challenging – and Ariana Biermann says she knows that all too well.
The 23-year-old reality star, who is the daughter of former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kim Zolciak, recently opened up about the pressure to be perfect in a world filled with social media filters.
Looking back, Biermann says she was already thinking about plastic surgery when she was just 13 and was ready to start getting lip filler. While she waited several years before going through with the procedure, she ended up going too far.
“I think I was honestly ready to get my lips done at 13,” Biermann recently told PEOPLE. “But I didn’t. I didn’t end up getting them done, I think, until I was honestly maybe like 17. And then you go crazy.”

Biermann added that she got her lips so overfilled and “so big” that she ended up having to “get them dissolved twice.” Nowadays, Biermann is still getting lip filler but she’s being more cautious about it.
“I’m on my third time bringing them back and trying not to do them too much,” Biermann shared. “I think that it’s definitely hard, also the world we live in with how normal plastic surgery is and filler and all these things.”
She went on to say that while she feels it’s important to “accept yourself and love yourself how you are,” it can also be “a little difficult growing up in the world that we live in now.”
Biermann recently gave an inside look at the cosmetic enhancements she’s had done during a trip to a medical spa.
“I’m all for natural beauty. but honestly for me, a little plump with filler just feels like an extension of that. I’m not looking to change my face—just to soften the smile lines that have always made me feel self-conscious. Just a subtle enhancement,” she wrote on Instagram.
She continued, “it’s more about feeling confident in my own skin than chasing that perfect look.”
