The season of polka dots is upon us—from the chic polka-dot dresses that took over the stands during Royal Ascot and Wimbledon to Hailey Bieber’s polka-dot capri pants and the cutesy polka-dot micro shorts Olivia Rodrigo recently stepped out in—the playful print has only snowballed in popularity this summer. Now, Queen Letizia is jumping on the trend while giving it her own sophisticated spin.
On Thursday, the queen of Spain emerged in Madrid wearing a breezy white sundress covered in a graphic navy print. At first glance, the pattern looked like all-over polka dots, but upon closer inspection, it revealed itself to be little deep-blue scribbly blocks.
The airy midi dress had a high, pleather neckline, long sleeves, and a flowy pleated skirt that went down to Letizia’s shins. The piece was cinched at the waist with a thin leather belt in royal-blue leather, adorned with a golden buckle.
With the help of her longtime stylist, Eva Fernández, the royal paired the sundress with pointy leather kitten heels in a deep blue to match her dress’s print. She continued the color scheme with her jewelry, which included dangly earrings with rectangular sapphires.
She finished off the look with her signature maroon smoky eye and glossy lip.
Letizia wore the fresh look to attend the annual meeting with the Princess of Asturias Foundation board members at the El Pardo Palace, alongside husband King Felipe VI.
Letizia has long favored a belted midi dress. Just last month, the monarch attended an event while in a textured white mock-neck dress courtesy of Massimo Dutti. The sleeveless midi had a dreamy, cloud-like appearance, and the royal cinched it at the waist with a thick black leather belt.
The royal also wore a belted white day dress back in May—this one with a dainty black floral print, from Spanish brand Yolanda Guillén.
