The two elephants, named Billy and Tina, were moved from the facility overnight on Tuesday, May 20, and taken to the Tulsa Zoo in Oklahoma, much to the disappointment of Presley and animal rights activists who were pressuring L.A. mayor Karen Bass to have the animals relocated to a sanctuary instead.

“Myself and many people alongside [animal rights activist] Chris Derose & Last Chance for Animals (LCA) tried to get Billy and Tina to a sanctuary. Instead, Los Angeles zoo and the mayor let them be transferred to another zoo in Tulsa Oklahoma,” Presley, 79, wrote via Instagram on Thursday. “This is unexceptionable! We need to be a voice for these beautiful social creatures.”
According to TMZ, Presley told the outlet that she is “devastated and outraged” by the decision to send the animals to another zoo, a decision that she further described as “cowardly.”
