Summer is a magical time of year when your a child; it’s just three months of endless frog catching, bike riding and of course splashing in the pool. And evidently that’s true even for British royals and high society.
Charles Earl Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana Spencer, recently shared a sweet summer memory of his sister with a rare throwback photo.

Spencer captioned the photo with some fun facts about Diana’s early life fans of the royal family live for.
“A long ago summer, by the swimming pool at our childhood home, Park House, Sandringham – Diana and I both proudly showing off our swimming badges (sewn onto our swimming costumes),” he wrote. “These were awarded (sparingly) by Mrs Lansdowne, a fairly terrifying but very gifted swimming instructor, who came to stay each year. We were never out of that pool.”
Considering how Diana once broke royal protocol to compete in Prince Harry‘s school’s footrace in 1991, and won, it’s not hard to believe she worked so hard to achieve her goal.

A Striking Resemblance
Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that a young Princess Diana bares a striking resemblance to a certain other cheeky royal we love.

Princess Charlotte with her gorgeous eyes could pass off as a young Diana easily. She strongly resembles her Windsor/Spencer side of her family, looking more and more like her father, Prince William, and consequently Princess Diana every day.
Though Diana never got a chance to meet her royal grandchildren, her smile has certainly been passed down through the generations
