“Practical Magic 2,” a follow-up to the 1998 fantasy comedy, will cast a theatrical spell next fall. The witchy sequel, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, is set to debut on Sept. 18, 2026.

Bullock and Kidman are reprising their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who descend from a long line of witches. In the original movie, based on the novel by Alice Hoffman, they find themselves fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. It’s unclear where the second film will pick up, though the story is reportedly based on a later installment in Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” book series.

Warner Bros. released a short, text-only teaser with a voiceover from Bullock and Kidman, who chant the following incantation: “Tooth of wolf and morning dew. Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix. Sept. 18, 2026.” On its current release date, “Practical Magic 2” will hit the big screen on the same day as Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil” reboot from Sony.

The spell is cast. The date is set. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return. Only In Theaters September 18, 2026.

“Practical Magic” received mixed reviews and flopped at the box office, but the supernatural story became a cult favorite in subsequent years. Warne Bros. tried to expand the “Practical Magic” property in 2019 with the prequel series “Rules of Magic,” but the HBO series was scrapped and never came to fruition.

Susanne Bier is directing “Practical Magic 2” from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first movie. Though the production timeline is hazy, Kidman told Variety in February that the sequel is “moving ahead rapidly.”

Bullock and Kidman, who each have collected Oscar statues in the decades following “Practical Magic,” will produce the sequel alongside the original film’s producer Denise Di Novi.
