Police in Los Angeles, California, are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on a downtown sidewalk early Tuesday morning.
Police arrived at West 3rd Street and Broadway at 1:37 a.m. after receiving a radio call, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) told the Daily Caller.
“The deceased is male and was located outside,” the spokesperson confirmed to the Caller in a statement.
A spokesperson for the LAPD told KTLA 5 that the death is currently under investigation, and it is not known if there is any potential connection to the looting or protests.
The discovery of the body comes after days of rioting in the city.
The body was found near a T-Mobile store, which was reportedly looted during recent anti-ICE riots in the area, according to KTLA 5. (RELATED: Hundreds of Marines Reportedly Deploying to Los Angeles)
The city of Los Angeles has been engulfed in protests and riots following an operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Friday.
The Trump Administration deployed about 2,000 National Guard soldiers to Los Angeles Saturday as violence surged in the city.
Hundreds of U.S. Marines are also being sent to Los Angeles to help quell the riots, according to several reports Monday.
President Trump referred to the riots as “two days of violence, clashes, and unrest” in a post to his Truth Social Saturday.
The deployments come after four days of protests and riots against the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Demonstrations have spread to other cities, including New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco, according to the Washington Post.
Trump will be giving remarks at Fort Bragg in North Carolina at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
