It’s been over 30 years since Lori Petty starred opposite Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in the classic action movie Point Break, but the actress is still beloved to fans of the film — which gave her the “best experience” of her career.
In a recent video shared on TikTok, Petty, 61, stopped to chat with a fan while making her way through baggage claim at Los Angeles International Airport. Petty was dressed comfortably for travel, wearing baggy brown pants with flower designs and a mint green sweatshirt over a gray t-shirt with green lettering, accessorizing with a pair of white-rimmed sunglasses. No longer a brunette, Petty’s platinum blonde hair was short and spiky.
After Petty gave the fan filming the video a fist bump, he asked about her “best experience” in Hollywood.
“There’s so many,” she said, pausing to reflect, then answered, “kissing Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze on the same day.”
When the fan admitted that Point Break was his “favorite action movie,” Petty gave him a hug before going on her way.
Commenters loved seeing Petty out and about.
“She’s such a vibe,” wrote one person.
“I could tell by her voice!” another fan added, with someone else agreeing, “her voice is so recognizable.”
Petty, who has also starred in movies such as Tank Girl and A League of Their Own and TV shows like Orange Is the New Black and Station Eleven, will always be remembered for her iconic role as a feisty surfer in Point Break. In 2015, she slammed the movie’s remake, calling it “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Really? Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Kathryn Bigelow — what are you gonna do? What are you thinking? Stupid!” she said, going on to share a special memory from filming.
“We shot all night once, and Keanu and I were laying on the beach, watching the sun rise while drinking a bottle of Cristal. We were like, ‘Dude, this is our life!’” she recalled.
