Who in their right mind doesn’t adore the Peanuts, the famously wholesome gang of neighborhood friends brought to life by Charles Schulz in 1950?
Making the momentous leap from newspaper comics into both television and animated film, the Peanuts have continued to maintain a special place in the hearts and minds of viewers across the globe, enjoying the same iconic legacy as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny or Scooby-Doo.
In an exciting new development for lifelong fans of Charlie Brown and his colorful friends, the Peanuts are officially set to return with their first musical special in 35 years, as recently revealed by Apple TV+.
According to Apple’s summary of the program, the special – titled Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical – will act as a summertime special following the Peanuts gang’s return to summer camp.
Learning that their cherished campground might be shutting down soon, Charlie and his pals rally to save the camp by hosting their own concert, using a rumored treasure sought by his faithful pet dog Snoopy and Woodstock as their primary budget.
Released just in time to celebrate the Peanuts‘ 75th anniversary, Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical marks yet another exciting entry in Apple TV+’s Snoopy Presents series.
With a release date of August 15, the streaming provider has recently debuted the trailer for the upcoming musical special, giving audiences a glimpse of what they might expect from the new Peanuts adventure.
“Featuring original music by Emmy Award-nominated composer Jeff Morrow and Emmy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, composer and New York Times bestselling author Ben Folds, the latest 40-minute special under the acclaimed Snoopy Presents banner by Peanuts and WildBrain for Apple TV+ marks the first Peanuts musical in 35 years,” Apple said of the project’s imminent release.
