If you’re a fan of Panera’s mac and cheese, you may want to listen and pucker up.
The bakery-café fast casual restaurant chain announced on Wednesday, July 9, that it has partnered with beauty brand Holler and Glow to launch an “unexpected product that is equally indulgent and playful” just in time for National Mac & Cheese Day.
The brands concocted two lip balms that are inspired by Panera’s popular mac and cheese and Bread Bowls. The scents include:
-
S’Mac My Day: A golden, mac and cheese-scented balm that’s as rich and satisfying as your favorite spoonful.
-
Get That Bread: A toasty bread-scented balm with a soft brown hue, invoking the scent of baked bread with every swipe.
Panera said the two balms bring “cozy, carb-inspired comfort to your beauty routine,” as each balm is crafted with Holler and Glow’s signature glossy, non-stick formula, infused with Vitamin E, and features a spoon-shaped applicator.
Each box comes with one of each scented balm and the spoon-shaped applicator. Customers can get the balms exclusively at Amazon and The Panera Shop for $8 starting July 9, while supplies last.
“For our first foray into the beauty world, it only made sense to start with a Panera classic – mac & cheese and bread bowl – reimagining it as a playful, scent-sational lip balm duo,” said Mark Shambura, chief marketing officer at Panera Bread, in a news release.
As an added treat, MyPanera members can enjoy $2 off a mac and cheese entrée at cafes nationwide on July 14, which is National Mac & Cheese Day. Customers in New York City, Green Bay and Austin, Texas, might even be surprised with a free lip balm duo at their local cafe, Panera said.
Lip balm comes months after release of Croissant Clutch
The chain’s S’Mac and Cheese lip balm is their latest foray into the fashion and beauty space.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled the Croissant Clutch, which the company described as “the bread experts’ take on the it-bag of the season.”
The clutch, inspired by the company’s Croissant Toast Sandwiches, is a limited-edition croissant-shaped bag that it says is “equal parts style and function.”
“Unlike runway croissant clutches, the Panera Croissant Clutch is perfectly sized to fit an actual Croissant Toast Sandwich and insulated to keep it warm for a delicious meal on-the-go,” the restaurant chain said in a news release in April.
“The on-trend brown clutch is constructed with a pleated design reminiscent of the flaky layers of a croissant, a gusset with accordion sides and kiss-lock closure with a gold frame,” Panera described the accessory in the news release. “The stylish structured accessory also features a detachable gold chain shoulder strap, a custom metal Panera ‘P’ emblem, and an insulated lining.”
The clutch was made available on April 30 for $39.50; however, it is no longer available.
