Ozzy Osbourneis dead, but his fans—and the world—will never forget him. And in the wake of the news that the heavy metal singer passed away at age 76, less than three weeks after his final concert, fans were reminded just how much they mattered to Ozzy.
In 2020, Osbourne went public with his Parkinson’s diagnosis in a Good Morning America interview with Robin Roberts. Following his death, the program reshared the interview with Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne. In the clip posted online, Roberts reassured Ozzy that his fans “aren’t gonna leave you.”
“I hope so,” he said. “They’re my air, you know. “They’re my air, you know.” In the full interview, Ozzy hoped that fans would “hold on” and that “they’re there for me because I need them. I wanna see my people, you know….I miss them so much.”

In the clip, Ozzy said that he couldn’t wait to get better and get back on the road again. “I need it,” he said.” That’s my drug today. Not that other crap. Left that by the wayside, survived that. And I ain’t going to go anywhere yet.”
During the interview, Sharon couldn’t hold back the tears, especially at the thought of Ozzy getting back on stage. “It means so much to him what he does. He loves to perform. It is the air that he breathes. And this is the longest he’s ever been home,” he said. “And it’s time for him to get back on the road, since he’s driving me mad.”
Ahead of Ozzy’s farewell show, he spoke about how he was looking forward to retirement. “I’m kind of like a homebody. I never go out. I never hang out in bars – I don’t drink. … But it’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids.”
Following his death, the music world paid tribute to Ozzy. His bandmates in Black Sabbath also shared a statement: “Ozzy Forever.”
