Ozzy Osbourne will be honored by his hometown.

On Tuesday, July 29, it was announced that the Black Sabbath frontman — who died on July 22 at age 76 — will be honored with a funeral procession in his native Birmingham, England.

The city of Birmingham revealed that it will pay its respects to Osbourne on Wednesday, July 30 at 1 p.m. with a “cortege procession on Broad Street.”

Per the city’s site, the hearse and accompanying vehicles will slowly head down Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bridge and bench, where thousands of fans have paid tribute to the late musician in recent days.

A live brass band comprised of local musicians from Bostin’ Brass will also honor Osbourne with a “final musical moment,” just a month after he and Black Sabbath were given the Freedom of the City honor, according to the site.

“Ozzy was more than a music legend – he was a son of Birmingham. Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral,” Councilor Zafar Iqbal MBE, JP, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, said in a statement, per the site.

Iqbal added that the city is ” proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began.”

“We are grateful that they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen and support the city is giving him the farewell he deserves,” he concluded.

According to the site, the Birmingham City Council has created this event in collaboration with the Osbourne family, “who have kindly funded all of the associated costs.”

For those unable to attend the occasion, there will be a live stream of the Black Sabbath bench.

In the weeks prior to his death, Osbourne performed from a throne at the Black Sabbath farewell concert on July 5 in Birmingham.

On July 22, the Osbourne family shared a statement with PEOPLE that read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

It continued: “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

In the most recent PEOPLE cover story published on July 29, a source told PEOPLE that the family is “planning a small, private funeral that will be a celebration of his life.”

“Ozzy would never want a mope-fest,” they said.

The source added that the Osbourne family is “very grateful” for the “special family time” they had together before Ozzy’s death.

They added that the rocker’s family, including wife Sharon, 72, and their kids Aimee, 41, Jack, 39, and Kelly, 40, has been moved “by all the love and support pouring in from around the world.”
