Ozzy Osbourne’s sudden death comes a little more than two weeks after he took the stage for his final performance with Black Sabbath at England’s Villa Park on July 5.

Sitting on a bat-themed throne with a skull design on each arm rest, Osbourne was on stage while a montage of his highlights from over the decades played on giant screens, per fan-recorded footage shared to social media.

The concert marked his first in 20 years with Black Sabbath, the band that first put him on the map.

In 2003, Osbourne was diagnosed Parkinson’s disease, which severely impacted his ability to stand and walk. The icon didn’t publicly reveal the diagnosis, however, until 2020.

Many of Osbourne’s friends and family attended the final show, including Jason Momoa and Steven Tyler, as well as his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who shared photos of the day on her Instagram stories. In one of the shots, she and YUNGBLUD were hanging out sidestage.

The show, which was dubbed “Back to the Beginning” and took place in the rock band’s hometown of Birmingham, England, also featured a who’s-who of rock icons including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and Slayer.

Black Sabbath performed hits “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man” and “Paranoid” — while Osbourne also performed solo songs such as “I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Suicide Solution,” “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Crazy Train.”

On July 18, the Prince of Darkness even announced the performance will be released in theaters as a concert film next year.

“We are excited to announce the theatrical release of Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow – coming early 2026,” read a statement shared to his social media.

On July 22, Osbourne’s family confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that the rocker had died earlier that day.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
