A week after the Black Sabbath frontman’s death at 76, a touching moment from 2014 is making the rounds again — and his words about Swift are unexpectedly heartwarming.
It all started with a rare shopping trip that led to one of the sweetest celebrity encounters ever. During a 2014 episode of The Talk, Sharon Osbourne shared the story of Ozzy’s glowing reaction after meeting Swift during a chance encounter.
“Remember the time that we were all out shopping separately and we bumped into you?” Sharon asked Taylor, who was a guest on the show at the time, according to theDaily Mail.
However, Ozzy’s reaction to meeting the Grammy winner was unlike anything Sharon had ever seen. “Ozzy came away and he said, ‘Finally, out of all these young, new artists, I finally found one that is a true superstar,'” Sharon revealed.
The glowing compliments didn’t stop there. Sharon recalled that the metal legend compared Swift to some of history’s most powerful women, telling his wife, “She’s like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, all rolled into one.”
Sharon added that Ozzy hadn’t met anyone that came close to Swift’s “aura of elegance and genuine talent.” Swift was clearly touched by the unexpected compliment from rock royalty.
Taylor called Ozzy’s words “the sweetest thing in the world,” though she jokingly noted that the rocker “didn’t say much” during their actual encounter. Sharon quipped, “He was too busy staring at you.”
This story resonates even more following Ozzy’s death on July 22. The heavy metal pioneer passed away weeks after his final farewell performance at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England, where more than 42,000 fans gathered to witness history.
