After a hard-fought series against the Indiana Pacers, the Oklahoma City Thunder are NBA champions. How will the team celebrate its first championship since moving to the city? A parade, of course.
Fans are expected to show up in droves to support the team as it parades through the Oklahoma City streets. Here’s everything you need to know about the Thunder parade ahead of Tuesday’s celebration.
Oklahoma City Thunder parade date, time
The Thunder parade will take place Tuesday, June 24 at 11:30 a.m. ET. It is expected to last roughly 90 minutes.
In preparation for the parade, the city started blocking off roads Monday morning. Oklahoma City expects a large crowd at the event, and City Manager Craig Freeman said attendees should be prepared to walk long distances and should “bring refillable water bottles and packaged food or snacks” to make it through the day, per KFOR in Oklahoma.
