Rihanna was putting in the work for yesterday’s Met Gala and she deserves an award. Because, like always, she had the best, buzziest entrance of the night by far (and that includes Andre 3000 wearing a literal piano up the red carpet stairs).
That’s because she (1) casually revealed she was pregnant, nonchalantly heading into The Carlyle Hotel (where many of the celebs get ready before the event) to get ready as most people were leaving, (2) finally got to the event, the literal last person on the carpet, once again, as other guests were already leaving, and (3) completely stunned in this delightful custom Marc Jacobs number:
Zoom in for the details: a cropped blazer, a skirt that is also a jacket, a corset, black and white brogues, an enormous hat, and a detached collar with a silk tie. The tailoring and details of which were, of course, in Rihanna fashion, completely and purposefully on theme. The theme of the night being “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
As one Instagram commenter put it: “On theme ✨ gorgeous ✨ serving ✨mothering ✨ surprising,” and, yeah, that pretty much sums it up. One more said: “Queen has arrived!!! Party done!” Also true!
