ELLE editor-in-chief and longtime Project Runway judge Nina Garcia is returning to help find the next star designer in the show’s 21st season.

Today, Project Runway announced its all-star roster of fashion experts, including Garcia, designer Christian Siriano, and image architect Law Roach (who works as Zendaya’s creative director and stylist). Siriano will serve as a mentor to the designer contestants, while Heidi Klum will be hosting the season. Roach is a new judge alongside Garcia, and additional guest judges will be revealed later.

Garcia has been part of Project Runway since it began in 2004. The 21st season starts production today and will air this summer on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform. Freeform will premiere new episodes weekly, which will then be available to stream shortly after on the platforms.

In February 2022, Garcia spoke to ELLE.com about judging the show and the importance of sustainability in fashion.

“I’ve been in this business for a very long time, and I am very optimistic about the future because I see how differently this new generation of designers thinks about fashion and thinks about the industry,” she said. “They think about how to be more transparent and how to think sustainably. So, it is of utmost importance that we continue to think in this way so that we can protect our industry and our Earth.

“When I see the graduating classes of FIT or Parsons, when I see their curriculum, when I see what we do at ELLE to support sustainability, I see that the industry is moving toward that direction,” she continued. “Maybe not fast enough, but we’re getting there.”
