Nicole Kidman loves wearing her hair slicked back and straightened on the red carpet, but the actress occasionally lets her natural curly hair texture shine — and her celebrity friends love seeing it return!
The actress, 58, took to Instagram on Tuesday, Aug, 19, and shared a look at her summer with friends and family. For the laid-back activities — which included swimming in clear blue waters, attending Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo concerts and celebrating her daughter Sunday Rose’s 17th birthday — Kidman let her natural curls shine.
In the third image of the carousel post, the Babygirl actress wore a blue crop top and skirt and gave her daughter a big hug. Her natural curls made an appearance in the photo.

Elsewhere in the carousel, Kidman, her sister, Antonia Kidman, and her niece Lucia Hawley all wore white gowns. The Academy Award winner, however, completed her look with subtle pink lipstick, brown tinted sunglasses and her curly hair parted down the middle.

In other images from the set, Kidman posed alongside her sister, natural curls still intact and lounged on a bench wearing a blue and white striped button-down top and white pants, with her natural curls hanging off the side of the bench.

“Summer memories ❤️ Now back to school ✨,” the actress captioned the post.
Kidman’s celebrity friends flocked to the comments section of her post and shared their love of her natural hair texture.
“Look at those waves 😍😍😍 so beautiful,” Joey King, who starred alongside her in 2024’s A Family Affair, wrote. Reese Witherspoon added, “Look at all that gorgeous hair!”
Other celebrities, meanwhile, chimed in and shared how happy they were to see Kidman relaxing and enjoying time with her family.
“You look so relaxed and happy ❤️❤️❤️,” Isla Fisher commented, while Rita Wilson told Kidman to “Enjoy every drop of that beautiful water and love.”
Kidman embracing her curls comes after admitting that she regrets damaging her hair by wearing it straight so often.
“Do I wish that I hadn’t screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure,” she previously said in a 2020 interview with The Sunday Morning Herald.
While reacting to a picture of her curly hair in 1990’s Days of Thunder for a May Allure video, she advised all girls watching to love hair curly hair texture.
“Why did I straighten my hair?” she says. “I love my hair there. That is my natural hair. Isn’t that crazy? So, little girls out there, embrace the curl. Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair.”
As Kidman’s latest set of images suggest, she said in the video that there are “certain things” she can do to bring back her natural hair texture. “It needs to be kind of humid and I need to use the right product.”
“But it was very humid down there,” she added of the Days of Thunder, which filmed in Daytona Beach, Fla. “Thus, I have very wild, curly hair.”
