Nicole Kidman is reflecting on her natural hair.
In a video for Allure published on Thursday, May 22, the actress looks back on some of her most memorable beauty moments throughout her illustrious career.
When reacting to her naturally curly hair in 1990’s Days of Thunder, Kidman, 57, says, “I look like my daughters,” before pausing and adding, “Well, that makes sense.”
The Oscar winner shares daughters, Faith, 14, and Sunday, 16, with her husband Keith Urban. The star also shares two children, son Connor, 30, and daughter Bella, 32, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, whom she met on the set of Days of Thunder.
In the clip, which accompanies her Allure cover interview, Kidman laments her decision to straighten her natural texture.
“Why did I straighten my hair?” she says. “I love my hair there. That is my natural hair. Isn’t that crazy? So, little girls out there, embrace the curl. Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair.”
The Babygirl actress says there are “certain things” she can do to revive her natural curls, but she notes, “It needs to be kind of humid and I need to use the right product.”

“But it was very humid down there,” she adds of the Days of Thunder filming location, Daytona Beach, Fla. “Thus, I have very wild, curly hair.”

Kidman goes on to react to several other iconic looks, including the red style she wore for Practical Magic in 1998, her transformation into Lucille Ball for Becoming the Ricardos in 2021 and the pinstripe suit from her AMC commercial.

In an interview with Australian network Channel Seven’s Sunrise, Kidman opened up about her ever-changing hair journey. The star recently rocked a shorter hairstyle at the 2025 Met Gala, where she wore a structural black 1950s-inspired Balenciaga gown on the carpet. Just a day before the May 5 event, she was spotted with a long blonde ponytail at a Charli xcx concert in New York City.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Did you chop your hair off?’ I’m like, ‘No, I did not,’ ” she told the outlet.

The actress debuted another new hair look as wellness guru Masha Dmitrichenko for Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. In the newly released trailer, Kidman has swapped the character’s previous long locks for an icy blonde bob with bangs.
Kidman described the new look for the character in the interview with Sunrise. “[She’s] coming in, like, boss.”
The actress’ Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 costar, Murray Bartlett, jumped in, joking, “There were gasps on set” when Kidman revealed the new wig for the character.
“It was very much because Masha has to recreate herself. She always has to. And as you know, I love changing my hair,” Kidman concluded.
Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 is now streaming on Hulu.
