Nick Cannon’s Controversial Statement About Co-parenting Has the Internet in Shambles originally appeared on Parade.
Nick Cannon is the father of twelve children, whom he shares with six women, and people have vocal opinions about his unorthodox lifestyle. But comments he made recently about his thoughts on co-parenting have set the internet ablaze.
Nick Cannon ‘Always Kind Of Had An Issue’ With ‘Co-Parenting’
It all started with a recent episode of Cannon’s Wondery podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night, which was released on Wednesday, August 13, and featured a conversation with Flame Monroe.
On the podcast, Cannon declared that he “always kind of had an issue” with the term “co-parenting.” Cannon argued that he’d prefer to just call it parenting.
Cannon went on to explain himself, saying, “When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous, because then everybody else has a preconceived notion of what you’re doing.”
He continued, “I haven’t figured it out yet. I haven’t gotten it all the way right. But also to your point, if I just step into every situation with respect, and compassion, and individuality. That’s the other thing I always do with anyone I’m involved with in my life.”
Reactions To Nick Cannon’s Co-Parenting Comments Are Savage
On Instagram, reactions to Nick Cannon’s co-parenting comments were savage and held nothing back.
“But isn’t that what he’s doing with his football team of kids? 😂What else would you call it,” one commenter wrote.
Another chimed in, “Clearly, he doesn’t believe in anything that starts with ‘co.’ Co-parenting, commitment, common sense, constant presence and condoms. 😂”
A third wrote, “And that’s why he can’t remember his kids names… or even how many he has 😂”
“Because he can’t possibly be really parenting at all so he can’t be co 😂He has so many children spread out everywhere, that man is really just having play dates with each one occasionally,” yet another comment said.
“Of all the people who should believe in co-parenting, it’s Nick Cannon,” someone else said.
Another asked, “Well, to be considered a co-parent he would have to be sharing the duties of raising all his children. Is that really happening consistently amongst all his children?”
While most fans reacted negatively to Cannon’s statements, some defended the multi-hyphenate after others asked if he pays child support. “Big time plus supports the mothers pays for houses cars all the designer s–t they can want,” one Redditor stated.
Another teased that their “mom has 2 and forgets my sister’s name and shes named after her so…” in reference to Cannon stating that he doesn’t remember all of his children’s names.
