The Hamilton creator and star also created the Broadway tour de force In the Heights, which went on to become a hit movie in 2021. Since then, Miranda has become one of the most respected actors, film writers, and playwrights, thanks to Hamilton’s many touring companies and iconic soundtrack.

With all that success, it’s easy to forget that the Wesleyan University alum, 45, got his start as a freestyle rapper. Newly released footage of Miranda and the Hamilton cast visiting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon highlights the playwright’s immeasurable talent.
In a video recently circulating on social media, Miranda and Hamilton co-star Phillipa Soo can be seen freestyling Fallon’s outgoing voicemail. Miranda’s creation is so good, it’s safe to assume Fallon’s friends pressed redial just to hear the message again.
