Elon Musk backed President Trump amid his fight with California leaders over the immigration protests in Los Angeles on Sunday, just days after the tech billionaire clashed with the president on social media.

In a post on his social platform X on Sunday evening, Musk shared a screenshot of a Truth Social post from Trump, who slammed California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) for their handling of the protests against the recent federal immigration raids.

While Musk did not include any personal commentary in the post, the resharing of Trump’s post was a subtle sign of support for the president after their blowout late last week.

Musk also republished a post from Vice President Vance, who wrote, “This moment calls for a decisive leadership. The president will not tolerate rioting and violence.”

Musk included two American flag emojis in the repost.

And in another post sharing a picture of a protester on top of a car on fire, Musk wrote, “This is not ok.”

The Tesla CEO’s posts resembled those he shared when serving as a special government employee in the White House, during which he used X to prop up the administration’s moves.

The posts were a stark contrast from Thursday, when Musk fired off dozens of posts bashing Trump’s spending and tax legislation and later the president himself.

Musk appeared to delete some of these posts over the weekend, including one that claimed Trump was included in the Epstein files.

Trump signaled Friday he was done with Musk after the blowup, but wished his former adviser well. It is unclear whether the two will reconcile in the future.

Musk’s posts came as tensions ramped up in Los Angeles on Sunday night after Trump deployed more than 2,000 members of the National Guard to quell the demonstrations.

About 300 National Guard members were already present on the ground in Los Angeles by midday Sunday.

Protesters blocked off a major freeway and set self-driving cars on fire while law enforcement used rubber bullets and tear gas on the crowds, The Associated Press reported.

Protesters clashed with police, who made dozens of arrests. Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said officers were “overwhelmed” by the remaining protestors.

Newsom said he will sue the Trump administration to challenge the president’s federalizing of the California National Guard without the state’s consent.
