A group of MS-13 gangbangers — who are in the country illegally — allegedly stabbed three correctional officers in a Friday morning attack inside a Virginia prison, authorities said.

The heinous melee broke out at Wallens Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap around 9:45 a.m. when six inmates — five of whom are members of the notorious El Salvadoran gang — launched the premeditated attack, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections.

“Five of the individuals responsible for this senseless attack should never have been in the country in the first place,” VADOC Director Chad Dotson said in a statement.

“Every single day, our officers put their lives on the line to ensure public safety for the more than 8.8 million people across the Commonwealth. This attack is an example of the dangers they face when they show up to work every day. Our officers are heroes’ and I commend the team at Wallens Ridge for their swift response.”

The five gang members were all convicted of violent crimes, including murder and rape.

The remaining prisoner, who is serving a second-degree murder sentence, is a US citizen affiliated with the Sureño 13 gang, officials said.

Five officers were taken to outside hospitals following the attack, with three of those officers, including two who sustained minor injuries while responding to the blitz, have since been released.

Two others remain hospitalized in stable condition, officials said.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing.

The Department of Homeland Security and the Virginia Attorney General’s Office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The vicious stabbing comes amid national uproar over alleged MS-13 gangbanger Kilmar Abrego Garcia — who was nabbed by ICE in March and deported to his native El Salvador, despite an immigration judge granting him protection from deportation.

He was initially placed in the hellhole Salvadoran megaprison CECOT before being moved to a lower-security facility last month.

Abrego Garcia, 29, has denied wrongdoing, and his lawyer has insisted that he is not associated with any gangs.

The Trump administration, which has defied several court orders to facilitate his return to the United States, has aggressively claimed that Abrego Garcia is part of the vicious MS-13 gang and was living in the country illegally when he was deported.

President Trump, who initiated nationwide raids to expel illegal immigrants, designated MS-13 and Tren de Aragua as foreign terrorist organizations when he declared a national emergency at the southern border upon kicking off his second term.

MS-13, or Mara Salvatrucha 13, formed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, according to federal officials, and has since become one of the most notorious criminal enterprises in the country, relying more on violent attacks than traditional criminal activities.

In New York, the ferocious gang established a strong presence on Long Island, peaking in 2015, and leaving a long trail of ruthless and merciless violence in its path.
